A Compelling Message
To build your personal home inspection brand, reach your goals, and increase your personal fulfillment, you'll need to increase your visibility and get your message out. But before you start spreadin' the news (in the words of Frank Sinatra), you should understand that the news should be of a compelling sort. Just about everything you do, say or print, puts out a message or impressioin that is either good, bad or indifferent. Crafting the messages in a way that creates some compelling reason to know, like, or trust your home inspection company, is key to being wildly successful. Now break this down. If I want people to know me, I have to get in front of them in some way with my messages. If I want people to like me, I need to put forth the messages in some positive (likeable), way. And to be trusted, I'll need to develop some testimony for the messages.
com·pel·ling adj
1. attracting strong interest and attention
2. tending to make somebody do something, make something happen, or be necessary
What would a compelling reason to know me, be?
- What if I was necessary in some way?
- What if I was a known expert?
- What if I had the ability to help transactions go smoothly?
- What if I had a charismatic personality?
- What if past clients became advocates?
Increasing the visibility of your home inspection company can be done a number of ways and should be done a number of ways. The days of passing out a brochure and business card to complete your marketing campaign are long gone. You are going to have to become "known" in your Realtor-centric community and you're going to have to do it by speaking, writing and becoming involved in the communities activities. If you just can't get yourself to do office presentations you'll have to work harder on writing and becoming part of the community. It is imperitive that you get known, and that takes time, effort (writing and speaking), and the realization that people need a compelling reason to choose you over someone else.
